James Cameron’s Avatar 2 is 100% Complete While Avatar 3 Is 95% Complete

The sequel over 14 years in the making upon release is 100% complete. Recently while speaking with Arnold Schwarzenegger at the 2020 Austrian World Summit, Academy Award winner James Cameron informed the Terminator star that he’s made significant progress on two sequels for his Avatar film series.

“We’re 100% complete on Avatar 2 and sort of 95% complete on Avatar 3,”

During their talks, Cameron spoke about production taking a hit as it was shut down “about four and a half months,” because of the pandemic. The director then added that the pandemic

“hit us like it hit everybody, it hit us hard.”

The pandemic caused the release date of Avatar 2 back to December 16, 2022, while Avatar 3 is now slated to arrive in theaters on December 20, 2023. Cameron also has two more Avatar films he’d like to share in theaters, which are expected to arrive in 2026 and 2028.
