DC’s Joker Star Compares Marvel fans to “outraged religious fanatics”

The upcoming Joker film is a few days away from its world premiere and one of its stars had a few choice words for Marvel fans. Last week on Conan, Marc Maron caused superhero movie fans to unleash their anger  when he said those kind of films, particularly Marvel ones, are “for grown male nerd childs”.

“I have some issues with them and I generally don’t like them,” he told the chat show host. “I don’t wanna be bullied into seeing those movies. I’m a grown-up, I’m not seven, and I think those movies are for grown, male nerd childs.”

After Marvel fans responded to his original statement, Maron responded,

“Hey, Marvel movie fans! Stop acting like outraged religious fanatics defending their belief system. It’s okay if I don’t believe. Let it go. Also, I’m actually big fan of a lot of comic art. Try to relax your mainstream asses,” he tweeted.

Joker hits theaters October 4th.
