Halloween Overtakes Scream as the Highest Grossing Slasher Movie of All-Time

40 years later, Michael Myers is still making an impact at the box office. Not only was Halloween the second highest grossing film in October, but its now broken a 20 plus year old record.

Halloween has officially passed Scream as the highest-grossing slasher movie at the box office in history. The sequel to John Carpenter’s 1978 immortal classic has been doing great at the box office since its released in mid October.

Following another weekend atop the box office, making it two in a row, Halloween has now grossed $172 million worldwide, with $126 of that coming domestically. Since then, Halloween has passed the $173 million mark, which surpass Wes Craven’s classic Scream. It looks as though the Blumhouse made the right choice in releasing a new installment.
