Guardians Of The Galaxy Cast Speaks Out On James Gunn Firing

The firing of James Gunn shocked everyone including the cast of his well known Guardians of the Galaxy. The firing sent shockwaves with many coming to the defense of the fired director. On Monday, the cast spoke out in support of director James Gunn.

Disney Studios cut ties with Gunn shortly after the director took responsibility for old, offensive tweets that joked about topics including rape and pedophilia. Alan Horn stated,

“The offensive attitudes and statements discovered on James’ Twitter feed are indefensible and inconsistent with our studio’s values, and we have severed our business relationship with him,”

Gunn has apologized profusely for the old tweets in the past, and to the USA TODAY and stated,

“Even these many years later, I take full responsibility for the way I conducted myself then,”

In a series of tweets, members of the cast spoke out,

Michael Rooker also commented on the news and stated,

“This account will be inactive after today,” wrote Rooker in a two-part message to his fans. “We’re very tired & upset over the ongoing BULLSH** … neither I nor my rep will use Twitter again. Twitter sucks and I want nothing to do with it. Thank you to all who gave kind words & support. See you on Instagram.”

Disney has yet to comment on the cast voicing their support for Gunn.
