Gotham Returns Down Slightly With Final Season Premiere While The Orville Stumbles In Timeslot Debut

The season premiere of the final season of Gotham debuted on Thursday and it was down slightly from its performance last year while The Orville was down significantly from its NFL boosted premiere from the previous Sunday

Gotham scored a 0.7 demo rating in adults 18-49 and 2.58 million viewers, down from the 0.8 it was averaging last season. Despite being slightly lower, FOX should be ok with the performance because Gotham has been on hiatus for quite some time so the fact that it scored this number is pretty impressive.

The news wasn’t as good for the second season premiere of The Orville which scored a 0.6 demo rating and and 2.82 million viewers. The show fell significantly from the 1.5 demo score that its NFL-boosted season premiere had scored the previous Sunday night. This also represents a series low for the sci-fi dramedy.

In other ratings news, NBC got solid results from the premiere of The Titan Games from Dwayne Johson which scored a 1.8 demo rating and 6.50 million viewers. This is the network’s best demo performance in the slot, excluding sports in nearly two years. The Dwayne Johnson-hosted series launch also handed NBC its first ever nightly win for a non-sports Thursday against an original The Big Bang Theory (2.2, 12.55 million viewers) on CBS.
