Game Of Thrones Premiere Draws 17.4 Million Viewers

We weren’t reportedly getting the premiere numbers for last night’s Game of Thrones premiere until Tuesday but they’re here early courtesy of “Variety.”  The premiere was watched by 17.4 million viewers.

The number is across all platforms (linear, HBOGO, & HBO Now). The Season 7 premiere, by comparison, averaged 16.1 million total viewers, including 10.1 million who watched on the linear channel and the rest coming from DVR and streaming.

Game of Thrones is a rare breed on TV as it has thus far managed to build on its ratings every season & given how high the fandom is for the final season, that should continue. It’s also being reported that 11.8 million viewers watched the first-run telecast.

The premiere helped boost Barry to a series-high 2.2 million viewers Veep also saw an uptick with 1.5 million viewers.
