Fox Orders Lone New Live-Action Comedy Outmatched To Series

Fox is banking on only one new live-action comedy this season and it won’t hit the air until January. The network has ordered Outmatched to series, starring Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson.

The multi-camera Outmatched had been a frontrunner among Fox’s four live-action comedy pilots as a possible companion to Last Man Standing. While Adam & Eve was never in serious contention, the multi-camera Patty’s Auto and single-camera Richard Lovely had some buzz. Richard Lovely is apparently now dead while Patty’s Auto has fans at the network and may be repiloted since they like the idea, which is set at an auto repair shop with all female mechanics.

Outmatched harkens back to one of Fox’s signature comedy series, Malcolm In the Middle. The multi-camera family comedy is about a blue-collar couple, played by Jason Biggs and Maggie Lawson, in South Jersey trying to get by and raise four kids, three of whom just happen to be certified geniuses. The series co-stars Connor Kalopsis, Ashley Boettcher, Jack Stanton, Oakley Bull & Tisha Campbell-Martin.
