First Wives Club TV Series Gets New Writer in Girls Trip‘s Tracy Oliver

I love this movie so much! First Wives Club! So when I heard the news that they might remake it into a TV series, I wasn’t too keen on it until now. Paramount Network (Spike) has tapped Girls Trip co-writer Tracy Oliver to pen the script for the half-hour series based on the hit 1996 film.

Girls Trip was hilarious, so if you haven’t seen it go watch it. I think Oliver will write a decent script. A First Wives Club reboot was originally developed and picked up to pilot by TV Land last year with a different writer. The network passed on the pilot but kept the project alive with a movie to Paramount Network, a new channel set to debut on January 18, 2018, with Heathers and American Woman on their slate.

The First Wives Club series will be based in New York City and will follow a group of women who band together after their marriages fall apart, and who find strength in their sisterhood- and of course a little revenge. I can’t wait!
