In a bit of a surprising move, Universal Pictures dropped a Super Bowl spot for F9: The Fast Saga during the big game yesterday despite reports that the studio was considering sitting out on running an ad. The 30-second spot pulled out all the stops we expect from the franchise in a relatively short amount of time.
There are plenty of stunts and impossible feats featured in the spot. The new look gives us glimpses of cast members Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Jordana Brewster, Nathalie Emmanuel, and the return of Sung Kang as Han. Also making an appearance in the spot were Helen Mirren, Charlize Theron, and John Cena. In the film, Dom will be leading a quiet life off the grid at the start of the story but danger is always lurking around the corner. This time the threat will force Dom to confront the sins of his past if he’s going to keep his Fast family safe.
It should be noted that the ad didn’t give the film’s release date and simply said coming soon to theaters. As of now, the film is slated for release on May 28, 2021.
