F9 Races To A Pandemic Best Opening

To the surprise of no one, the latest entry in the Fast and the Furious franchise raced into domestic theaters this weekend, putting F9 on top with an estimated opening and pandemic best of $70 million.

As mentioned before, F9 also had the strongest opening during the pandemic, taking in the highest weekend gross since the $62.5 million openings of Bad Boys For Life back in January 2020.

F9 stars Vin Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Sung Kang, and the whole crew to battle John Cena and Charlize Theron. The sequel, which also features the return of director Justin Lin for his first time since Fast and Furious 6.

With its opening, The overall $6.3 billion global total for the entire franchise now makes it the fifth highest-grossing series in history.
