Dune To Receive A Sequel If It’s Successful On HBO Max

As a fan of Denis Villeneuve, I am one of the many folks that are excited for the release of Dune. The film recently had its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival and has played at the Toronto International Film Festival and will play at the New York Film Festival. It was confirmed during the premiere that this in fact is part one. The fact that this is the first part makes its box office quite important, however, Variety has reported that Warner Bros. has said if the film is also embraced on HBO Max, the film will get its follow-up.

All that is known is that insiders say the HBO Max deal gives Villeneuve assurances that

“diminished box office revenues don’t prohibit the director from having the chance to make his follow-up film. If Dune is embraced by HBO Max subscribers, they say they will move forward with a follow-up.”

For fans that were worried about a sequel, make sure to support the film at the box office and stream it on HBO Max.
