Disney is adding to their list of live-action musicals by developing a new take on Snow White.
The live-action film will expand on the classic 1937 film version. The Girl on a Train screenwriter Erin Cressida Wilson and Mary Poppins Returns producer Marc Platt are attached to the project. As well, coming off of their musical success for this year’s La La Land, songwriters Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will write new music and original songs for the film.
Disney’s original Snow White was their first animated film and garnered massive success for the new studio. It also won an honorary Oscar at the 11th Academy Awards.
This Snow White will be the seventh in a series of Disney’s recent new takes on its animated classics, following the release of Beauty and the Beast on March 17, 2017, Mulan in 2018 with director Jon Favreau, and Aladdin with director Guy Ritchie.
