Director Patty Jenkins Considering Wonder Woman Amazon Spinoff

After months of anticipation, the trailer for Wonder Woman 84 was released this past weekend. Talking to press ahead of Sunday’s Wonder Woman 1984 panel at Comic Con Experience in São Paulo, Brazil, director Patty Jenkins mentioned she and Gadot already have a story for Wonder Woman 3, and are even considering a spinoff focusing on the Amazons.

“The movie is done. Because it doesn’t come out for a few months, for the first time in my career which is so great, I was able to say, ‘Hey guys, can you let me fiddle with this? Can you let me fiddle with that?’ So I’m fiddling but the movie is technically done.”

“I have an idea and I’m like, maybe it would make [the movie] shorter. We’re not going to officially say [how long the movie is] yet, however it’s in a good territory.” (She was willing to reveal that the first cut was 2 hours and 45 minutes, adding, “It wasn’t like three hours and a half; I’m not that kind of filmmaker.”)

“It was interesting that so many scenes that we set out to shoot, then something great would happen and then we would expand upon it and definitely with the action, what some things that were written to be very small little moments turned into, ‘But that’s so awesome,’” she continued. “It’s hard when you end up with that situation.”

Wonder Woman 84 hits theaters June 5th, 2020.
