Denis Leary Lands Recurring Role On Animal Kingdom

Denis Leary has booked a recurring role on the forthcoming third season of TNT’S Animal Kingdom. This will reunite him with TNT’S president  Kevin Reilly, who developed Rescue Me, on which Leary starred.

Leary will play Billy, Deran’s (Jake Weary) drifter dad whom Smurf (Ellen Barkin) kicked out years ago. TNT had this to say about Leary’s casting:

“Denis Leary’s extensive and successful career playing complicated, flawed characters makes him the perfect addition to this badass Animal Kingdom family.”

Leary joins Animal Kingdom as star Scott Speedman is poised to exit the series after his character was shot at the end of season two. The season premiere hasn’t been dated yet but is slated to launch this summer.
