Sony is ready to feel the rage all over again. Demian Bichir & Andrea Riseborough are set to star in Sony’s remake of The Grudge.
Sam Raimi and Rob Tapert will produce for Ghost House Productions and the film begins shooting in May. Nicolas Pesce is on board to direct the film from his very own script. Raimi had this to say about the reboot:
“We are so excited about this new adaptation. We went back to the original source material to deliver a relentless supernatural thrill ride that explores the horrors of American suburbia.”
The first film, itself a remake of the Japanese film, Ju-On, hit theaters in 2004. This was at a time Hollywood was remaking numerous Japanese horror films, including The Ring. The original adaptation starred Sarah Michelle Gellar and went on to gross $187.3 million worldwide on a $10 million budget.
