Dear White People is returning to Netflix for a fourth season but it has also been announced that it will be its last on the streamer.
The announcement of the fourth and final season comes on the heels of season 3 being released back in August. Although there are no immediate plans, creator Justin Simien & co-showrunner, and executive producer Yvette Lee Bowser, say that Dear White People spinoffs are a likely possibility in the future.
Based on Justin Simien’s acclaimed debut indie feature, Dear White People is set against the backdrop of a predominantly white Ivy League university where racial tensions bubble just below the surface. The satirical series — which picks up where the 2014 Sundance hit left off – follows a group of Winchester University’s students of color as they navigate a diverse landscape of social injustice, cultural bias, political correctness (or lack thereof) and activism in the millennial age.
Returning for the final season are Marque Richardson, Logan Browning, Brandon P. Bell, Antoinette Robertson, DeRon Horton, John Patrick Amedori and Ashley Blaine Featherson. There hasn’t been an official announcement on an episode count or premiere date but season 3 received a 10-episode order.
