Fans of the longtime running daytime soap, Days of Our Lives, can breathe a sigh of relief. NBC has officially handed out a season 56 renewal to the series.
Back in November, it was reported that the show was near a deal for renewal but nothing was officially announced. Fans were in fear that the show would be canceled because the entire cast had been released from their contracts but this proved to be more of negotiation strategy rather than sign that that the show was doomed.
Executive producer Ken Corday had this to say about the renewal:
“We are most grateful to NBC for their enduring faith in the future of Days of Our Lives, and we are excited to continue delivering compelling stories to our loyal family of fans into this new decade.”
Days of Our Lives aired its 13,755th episode back in 2019 and it has won 57 Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Daytime Drama in 2015 and 2018. It is one of four remaining soaps still on air which include The Young and the Restless & The Bold and the Beautiful on CBS and General Hospital on ABC.
