The Chucky is dawning closer and as the series is set to premier this fall, more casting news has arrived. David Kohlsmith is set to play the younger version of a genre icon, as IMDb leaked the news and Bloody Disgusting has confirmed that he’ll be appearing in the upcoming Chucky TV series as a young Charles Lee Ray.
Don Mancini, who has written every Child’s Play film except the remake and directed a few of them, developed Chucky with producer David Kirschner. The show’s synopsis:
After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.
The “untold origins” of Charles Lee Ray being ” where Kohlsmith comes into the picture and personally I am excited to see the series dive in a younger Ray.
The cast of the series also includes Zackary Arthur, Devon Sawa, Fiona Dourif, Jennifer Tilly, Bjorgvin Arnarson, Jacob Breedon, Alex Vincent, Lexa Doig, Teo Briones, Christine Elise, Alyvia Alyn Lind, and Lind’s real-life mother Barbara Alyn Woods. Brad Dourif is once again providing the voice of Chucky.
A follow-up to all of the Child’s Play movies (except that remake), Chucky picks up where Cult of Chucky left off andd will begin airing on USA Network and Syfy on October 12th.
