The video game genre has been far from successful during Hollywood’s attempt at film adaptations. 2018’s Tomb Raider is currently the video game genre’s highest rated film in the video game genre at 51 percent. However, there may be hope as one of the best video game franchises of this decade has found their director for their upcoming adaptation.
First reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Dan Trachtenberg set to direct on Sony’s best-selling adventure video game series, Uncharted. Trachtenberg made his directorial debut with 10 Cloverfield Lane. With a director lined up, the the studio is hoping to start filming later this year.
Rather than following the plot of the series of games, the film will be a prequel focusing on Nathan Drake’s origins, highlighting his relationship with his mentor, Victor “Sully” Sullivan. Tom Holland remains attached to play Drake.
