Damien Chazelle’s Babylon Said To Be Demented Depiction Of 1920’s Hollywood

We are less than a week removed from the 94th Academy Awards, however, one of next years expected players had its first screening. First reported by World of Reel, Academy Award winner Damien Chazelle’s Babylon is being labeled a masterpiece on its initial screening.

Some of the reactions have compared the film to Academy Award winner Martin Scorsese’s The World of Wall Street and Fellini’s Satyricon. Along with the comparisons comes word that the film is set to be 185 minutes long and will take place between 1925 and 1952 as Hollywood transitions from the silent era to the talkies.

In regards to performances, Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie’s take as film icon Clara Bow is being praised as a potential contender at next years Oscars. While the reactions can be taken with a grain of salt as the film is months from premiering, I am quite excited for what the Oscar winning director has in store for cinephiles.
