Roger Kumble, director of the late 90s cult teen hit Cruel Intentions, is taking on directing duties for the After sequel, After We Collided.
After was based on the YA novel from writer Anna Todd. In the sequel novel, Tessa (Josephine Langford) and Hardin (Hero Fiennes Tiffin), despite starting a tumultuous relationship, get a bombshell revelation about the origins of their relationship—and Hardin’s mysterious past. Tessa’s not sure she can endure one more broken promise.
Anna Todd also announced that The Suite Life of Zack & Cody star, Dylan Sprouse, is also joining the cast as “Fucking Trevor.” He likely just goes by Trevor but this is how Hardin refers to him in the novel. Trevor is one of Tessa’s co-workers who Hardin isn’t too fond of. Dylan Sprouse confirmed the casting news on his Instagram page:
Other than Cruel Intentions, Roger Kumble directed The Sweetest Thing starring Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate, and Selma Blair, as well as Just Friends starring Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart. Kumble recently wrapped production on the feature Falling Inn Love for Netflix.
In case you’re wondering how After even got a sequel, despite only grossing $12.1 million domestically, the film grossed $69.5 million worldwide on a $14 million budget. The film also opened at number one in 17 countries.
