Comedy Central Nabs All Seven Seasons Of Parks And Recreation

Comedy Central has acquired the rights to all seven seasons of Park and Recreation and has set up an MLK marathon to kick off the big news.

The mockumentary-style show’s Comedy Central debut marathon is set for Martin Luther King Jr. Day on January 21 and the marathon will be a daylong event. Parks and Recreation originally aired from 2009-2015 on NBC and produced 125 episodes. Amy Poehler starred as Leslie Knope, a wide-eyed, enthusiastic and (mostly) unflappable midlevel bureaucrat who just loves her job at the Parks and Rec Department of Pawnee, IL. Her cast of colleagues and friends includes Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Rashida Jones, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Retta, and Rob Lowe. It also featured cameos by such prominent politicians as Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Michelle Obama, Barbara Boxer, Newt Gingrich, Madeliene Albright and, Joe Biden — who was Leslie’s unashamed D.C. crush.

It was also announced this week by the Paley Center for Media that Parks and Recreation will get a special 10th-anniversary reunion at the 2019 PaleyFest LA in March.
