ABC has announced the new leading lady who will have a bevy of men vie for her love and attention. Clare Crawley, a 38-year-old hair stylist from Sacramento, CA, will be next Bachelorette for season 16.
Crawley is actually no stranger to the franchise. She first appeared during season 18 of The Bachelor, where she is remembered as the woman who stood up to controversial Bachelor Juan Pablo during the season finale. Crawley went on to appear on the first two seasons of Bachelor in Paradise, followed by the global spinoff Bachelor Winter Games. Picking Crawley to headline season 16 continues to keep in line with the franchise choosing people who have a prior connection to either The Bachelor or The Bachelorette.
Despite my personal feelings about this franchise, and I have many, there’s no denying that it’s a big ratings earner for ABC. Just The Bachelorette alone ranks as the No. 1 series of the summer in Adults 18-49.
The Bachelorette season 16 premieres Monday, May 18 at 8 PM EDT on ABC.
