Child’s Play Remake In The Works At MGM

Chucky is getting a revamp! MGM is remaking Child’s Play & bringing our favorite killer doll to a new generation.

This appears to be a bit rushed as MGM is fast-tracking the project which has Lars Klevberg, the Norwegian filmmaker behind the horror movie Polaroid, in the director’s chair as it heads toward a production start in Vancouver this September.

Directed by ’80s and ’90s horror mainstay Tom Holland and co-created by Don Mancini, Child’s Play told the story of a popular toy doll that becomes possessed by the soul of a serial killer and terrorizes a single mom and her son, as the killer needs the son’s body to jump into before his transference to the doll becomes permanent.

No word on if this affects the current series of films which have had two recent entries that were well received by fans of the franchise. There are also rumors of a Child’s Play TV show being in the works as well but no word beyond Don Mancini’s tweet hinting at the potential series.
