Bryan Singer Responds To Bohemian Rhapsody Winning Best Picture – Drama At The Golden Globes

While it was surprising that Bohemian Rhapsody took home Best Picture – Drama at last night’s Golden Globes, it wasn’t too surprising that its embattled director, Bryan Singer, wasn’t mentioned during its significant win. Singer was fired from the production in 2017 after what Fox said were unexplained absences from the set. Dexter Fletcher replaced Singer with roughly two weeks until wrap. Due to DGA rules, Singer was still credited as the film’s director and as the film’s director, it probably comes as no surprise that Singer has spoken out about the film’s surprise win last night.

Singer posted a small post via Instagram that can be seen here:

What’s interesting is that he used an image that featured Rami Malek as they shot the “I Want To Break Free” scene. Malek, who also won last night for Best Actor – Drama, did not get along well with Singer on set and it has been reported that they had many battles due to Singer’s unprofessional behavior. Malek didn’t mention Singer at all during his speech for his win and the same can be said about producer Graham King, who picked up the prize for best film. Singer has barely been mentioned by any of the cast during the film’s publicity run and while the success of the film is undeniable, it seems as if Fox wants to distance Singer from the project as much as possible.

Rami Malek is definitely getting an Oscar nom for his performance and the way things are going, the film may get a Best Picture nomination as well so it will be interesting to watch the cast and producers on the film do their best to not mention Singer as the Bohemian Rhapsody train continues to ride.
