Broke Is Anything But With Its Solid Ratings Start On CBS

Since everyone is hunkered down at home due to the coronavirus pandemic, live TV has been thriving a bit for the networks and the launch for CBS’ new comedy, Broke, looks to have benefitted from extra eyes being forced to watch TV screens.

Debuting in the middle of all the CBS action, which saw season highs on the network with nearly 10 million watchingYoung Sheldon (1.3), plus Mom (1.0) and Tommy (0.6), Broke, starring NCIS vet Pauley Perrette, was a good payoff for all concerned. The 0.9 demo debut is even with the likes of Mixed-ish and CBS’s own Bob Hearts Abishola for the best comedy demo debut of the season. It also scored the best debut in total viewers for a comedy series with 7.14 million viewers tuning in on Thursday night. With an average of 7.14 million sets of eyeballs, viewership easily belonged to CBS on Thursday but they had to settle for second in the demo average (0.9) to ABC (1.0).

ABC saw a solid Thursday with Grey’s Anatomy (1.4) seeing its best audience this season with 7.13 million viewers. Station 19 (1.1) and the return of How To Get Away With Murder (0.6), secured their demo win for the night.
