Bad Boys Spinoff, L.A.’s Finest, Given 13 Episode Order At Charter

It’s finally official! Bad Boys spinoff, L.A.’s Finest, has been given a 13-episode order at Charter. This will be Charter Communications first scripted series.

The series, starring Gabrielle Union & Jessica Alba, was originally developed and passed over at NBC. The pilot tested well at the network but the licensing fee became a bone of contention. The series was then shopped elsewhere, with Charter being the ones to grab it. The series will premiere in 2019.

Charter has been in the market for scripted originals after hiring former NBC and Chernin Entertainment executive Katherine Pope at the beginning of the year. Conversations between Charter and Sony for L.A.’s Finest started almost immediately after NBC passed on the drama. Budget concerns were said to be an initial obstacle but it looks like those concerns were worked out.
