Bright Sequel Hires Beauty and the Beast Writer

While Bright was not a critical success, it did not stop Netflix from green lighting a sequel. The Will Smith-starring action fantasy, is moving ahead with a new writer for the upcoming film.

Evan Spiliotopoulos, who worked on Disney’s commercially successful live-action Beauty and the Beast as well as the Snow White-centric fantasy film, The Huntsman: Winter’s War, has been hired to write the script for the follow-up, which will once again be directed by Suicide Squad’s David Ayer.

The reason for the change in writers is because sources have reported that Landis and Ayer disagreed creatively, which led to a parting of ways and a search beginning for a new writer.

Eric Newman and Bryan Unkeless are returning as producers.
