Skull Island is sure to make a splash this weekend at the annual San Diego Comi-Con. Before all those pictures and videos release, we get our first look at Academy Award winner Brie Larson and MCU star Tom Hiddleson exploring the island in what looks to be a large skeletal remain in the back ground courtesy of Entertainment Weekly. Unlike the 2005 release of King Kong, Skull Island is set in the 1970s, much like the 1976 Kong. Director Vogt-Roberts is setting his reboot at a time where society was already faced with “all sorts of chaos that the world didn’t know how to deal with,” before Kong. That climate helps bring Hiddleston’s ex-British Special Forces tracker, Larson’s war photographer and others to Skull Island, where all the craziness and action will then unravel.
