Reel TV Ratings: (Wednesday) – Empire Hits Three Episode High In The 18-49 Demo

Despite the show not being the behemoth it once was, Empire is still the highest rated scripted series on Wednesday night and it saw its demo numbers climb with its latest episode.

The series scored a 2.0 rating in the 18-49 demographic and 6.13 million viewers, tying its second-best mark of the season. It was the only show to reach the 2s for the night and lead the night by a considerable margin. Lead-out Star was even with last week at a 1.2 demo rating and 3.75 million viewers.

The news was good for ABC’s comedies and Designated Survivor, which were all up from their last episodes two weeks ago. Modern Family (1.7, 5.97 million viewers) rose two tenths of a point as did The Goldbergs (1.5, 5.62 million viewers). Speechless (1.1, 4.43 million viewers), American Housewife (1.3, 4.89 million viewers) and Designated Survivor (0.8, 4.08 million viewers) all added a tenth.

All of the CBS’ shows were on the rise as well. SEAL Team (1.1, 7.17 million viewers) grew by 0.2 while Criminal Minds (1.0, 5.60 million viewers) rose by 0.1. NBC’s Chicago PD jumped three tenths to a 1.2 demo rating and 6.38 million viewers while The Blacklist was steady at a 0.9 demo score and 5.86 million viewers.

On The CW, Riverdale (0.5, 1.42 million viewers) and Dynasty (0.2, 660,000 viewers) were both even with last week for the network.

Can Wednesday night maintain these increases? Check back next week for the Wednesday ratings recap!
