Bridgerton Renewed For Season Two At Netflix

All the period piece drama, scandal, and sex fans have come to love since Bridgerton debuted on Netflix on December 25 are in for a treat. It has been announced that the streamer has renewed the hit period drama for a second season.

The renewal should come as no surprise as Netflix has been pretty vocal about how well the show is doing. By the end of its first 30 days on the platform, it’s expected to be watched by 63 million households and it has quickly become a pop culture phenomenon. The renewal was announced by the series’ very own Lady Whistledown, voiced on the series by Julie Andrews, via press release that is in style with Bridgerton’s tone. Casting is currently underway for season two with the production looking to add several new roles. One of them is for the female romantic lead, Kate Sheffield, opposite Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) that is featured in the book, “The Viscount Who Loved Me.” Season one is based on the first book of Julia Quinn’s “Bridgerton” series, “The Duke and I.” The drama of season one has captivated those at home who binging the show like crazy and they’re completely hooked on the romance between the eldest Bridgerton daughter, Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor), and the Duke of Hastings Simon Bassett (Regé-Jean Page).
