Quentin Tarantino’s next film is getting even more star power. Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio are reuniting with Quentin Tarantino to star in the filmmaker’s latest feature, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. DiCaprio had already been attached while Sony Pictures announced the addition of Pitt yesterday.
Tarantino describes the film as “a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. The two lead characters are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a Western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor…Sharon Tate.”
The union wasn’t an easy one to get. The two stars made this an expensive endeavor and negotiations got dicey at one point. In fact, DiCaprio almost walked away from the project in January but Sony worked it out, pointing to both of them being in very successful Tarantino films in the past that also garnered awards attention.
Other big names have circled this project as well such as Tom Cruise while Margot Robbie is still rumored to be taking on the role of Sharon Tate.
Once Upon A Time In Hollywood is set to be released worldwide on August 9, 2019.
