Bill Condon Developing A Christmas Carol Musical for Disney

Bill Condon is partnering up with Disney once again, developing a musical based on Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, titled Marley.

Oscar-winning songwriter Stephen Schwartz has written the music for the upcoming film. This time around, the musical will be told in the view of Jacob Marley. In Dickens’ story, Marley is Ebenezer Scrooge’s deceased business partner. On Christmas Eve, he warns Scrooge that he will be visited by the Ghosts of Christmases past, present and future, who will give him a chance to change his ways.

This is no the first time, the Dickens’ novella has been remade. It’s been adapted numerous times for the big screen, including Disney’s 2009 motion-capture version directed by Robert Zemeckis starring Jim Carrey as Scrooge.
