Better Call Saul Renewed For Sixth & Final Season At AMC

AMC is bringing Better Call Saul to an end. The Breaking Bad prequel series has been renewed for a sixth and final season at the network.

The sixth season will return for a 13-episode run that is set to go into production later this year for a 2021 release. Showrunner and executive producer Peter Gould had this to say about the series ending its run:

“From Day 1 of Better Call Saul, my dream was to tell the complete story of our complicated and compromised hero, Jimmy McGill – now AMC and Sony are making that dream come true. We couldn’t be more grateful to the fans and critics who are making this journey possible. Next month we start work on the sixth and final season — we’re going to do our damnedest to stick the landing.”

The news comes on the heels of the start of season 5, which will consist of 10 episodes that follows Jimmy McGill’s (Bob Odenkirk) decision to practice law as “Saul Goodman,” which creates unexpected and profound waves of change for those in his orbit. Season 5 kicks off with a two-night premiere event on February 23 and February 24.

Better Call Saul is set several years before the events of Breaking Bad and chronicles the transformation of con man turned lawyer Jimmy McGill into the sleazy persona of Saul Goodman. Better Call Saul’s 13-episode final season will put the series’ final episode count one ahead of its parent show. Breaking Bad ran from 2008-13 for 62 episodes while Better Call Saul will wrap it up with 63.
