Bad Boys For Life Latest Film To Receive Early Digital Release

Bad Boys For Life will be arriving to view in our homes much earlier than anticipated. Sony has announced that they will release the Will Smith & Martin Lawrence action/comedy sequel on digital beginning March 31.

The release of Bad Boys For Life is much closer to what might be considered a typical theatrical window, since the movie first hit theaters on January 17. That means there will be 74 days between its theatrical debut and its on demand arrival. It’s considered early because the digital release was being planned for April. The Bad Boys sequel opened pre-corona times & became a huge hit, grossing $400 million worldwide, with a little over $200 million coming from the domestic front.

This release follows recent releases heading to digital and on demand early due to the COVID-19 pandemic shuttering movie theaters around the world. Universal Pictures officially opened the floodgates by releasing The Invisible Man, The Hunt and Emma, all very recent releases, on digital retailers to rent starting yesterday for $19.99. Warner Bros. followed suit with Birds of Prey, The Way Back while STX Entertainment has The Gentlemen getting early at-home releases, alongside Sony’s Bloodshot on March 24. Paramount Pictures is also releasing Sonic the Hedgehog earlier than expected on digital starting March 31, with Lionsgate dropping I Still Believe on March 27.
