Avengers: Endgame Leads Saturn Award Nominations

Marvel and The Avengers ruled the Saturn Award nominations with several nods for Avengers: Endgame and even a few for Avengers: Infinity War for good measure.

Endgame picked up 14 nominations and it was by far the biggest individual total for a film, followed by Disney’s Aladdin with nine, Universal’s Us (eight) and Warner Bros Aquaman and Disney’s Mary Poppins Returns (six each).

On the TV side of things, Game of Thrones leads the nominations with nine nominations, followed by The Haunting of Hill House and The Walking Dead with six each.

For those that aren’t aware, the Saturn Awards honors genre entertainment and has been doing so since 1973 when it was started by the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy and Horror Films. The ceremony is being retooled a bit this year by moving it from June to September 13. Because of that change, the eligibility window for this year’s nominations is based on a 16-month eligibility period from March 1, 2018, to July 7, 2019, rather than 12 months as usual. As part of the reorganization, the show also will move to the Avalon Theatre in Los Angeles.
