Anthony Michael Hall is joining the cast of the sequel to 2018’s Halloween and he’ll be playing a very familiar face to Halloween fans.
Hall will be playing Tommy Doyle in Halloween Kills. The character first appeared in the original Halloween from 1978 as one of the kids that Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) babysat the night that Michael Myers unleashed his reign of terror on the town of Haddonfield.
The Tommy Doyle character returned again in 1995’s Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers and was played by Paul Rudd in his first-ever film role (Clueless was released first but Curse was the first film that Rudd shot). There were some rumors that Rudd was talked to about returning for Halloween Kills but they never really moved beyond rumors.
Two Halloween installments are being shot back-to-back to wrap up the story started in last year’s Halloween. Halloween Kills is scheduled for an October 16, 2020 release while Halloween Ends opens the following year on October 15. 2018’s Halloween went on to become the highest-grossing film of the franchise with over $250 million worldwide. David Gordon Green is returning to direct and will co-write the films with Danny McBride, who is also returning to write these next two installments.
Anthony Michael Hall is best known for some 1980s favorites such as The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, & Weird Science. The actor recently starred in the USA TV series The Dead Zone and also had roles in films such as The Dark Knight and War Machine.
