American Horror Story Given Three Season Renewal At FX

American Horror Story isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. FX has just announced that they are renewing the horror anthology series for three more seasons which will take it into season 13.

John Landgraf, Chairman of FX Networks and FX Productions, had this to say about the big renewal:

“Ryan and Brad are the undisputed masters of horror TV, having created the anthological limited series with American Horror Story and sustaining its success for nearly a decade as FX’s highest-rated series. We are grateful to them and Dana Walden and our studio partners for committing to another three years.  AHS has showcased a wealth of award winning actors since day one and we appreciate the contributions of everyone, including Ryan, Brad and fellow executive producers Tim Minear, James Wong, Alexis Martin Woodall and Bradley Buecker, the writers, directors, cast and crew for each new, unforgettable installment of American Horror Story.

The news comes as American Horror Story: 1984, the ninth season,  concluded in November. That season was heavily influenced by slasher films such as Halloween and Friday The 13th. The series has already been renewed into season 10, which will air later this year.

Each season of American Horror Story has featured a different horror inspired theme and showcases many of the series signature actors and actresses portraying different roles throughout. Although it is an anthology series, each season is connected in some way which makes for an even deeper mythology. Ryan Murphy and his team consistently shroud each season in mystery before it premieres so there is no word on the theme for the upcoming season 10 or any indication where season 11, 12 and 13 could be headed as well.
