All American Hits Viewership Highs For Its Season 2 Premiere On The CW

The CW saw great success for Riverdale after its first season began streaming on Netflix the summer before its season 2 premiere and now the network is seeing similar strides for All American, their critically acclaimed football drama that saw some viewership highs for its season 2 premiere which follows a successful run of its first season on the streamer.

On The CW, All American’s season 2 debut logged a series-high viewership (926,000 viewers) and the show’s best Live+Same Day 18-49 rating since November 28, 2018 (0.3). Versus its series debut last fall, All American was up by 35% in viewers, 95% in adults 18-34 (0.3) and 66% in adults 18-49. And that was with All American opening the night versus having a lead-in, Riverdale, last fall. All American was also up dramatically from its March finale, by 72% in viewers, 198% in 18-34, and 154% in 18-49. The season premiere of Black Lightning followed with a 0.3 demo score and 900,000 viewers which saw a bump from its March finale (7% in viewers, 48% in 18-34 and 34% in adults 18-49) while slipping a notch from its Season 2 opener last fall.

On Fox, 9-1-1 continues to be a behemoth, scoring a 1.7 demo rating and 7.34 million viewers, up a tenth week-to-week. On the same day that it was announced as the first new series to get a full-season order, Prodigal Son dipped a tenth week-to-week to a 0.9 demo score and 3.66 million viewers. Despite the dip, Prodigal Son is still leading all new shows on Monday night across all the networks.

On NBC, The Voice (1.5, 8.5 million viewers) was even with last week while Bluff City Law (0.6, 3.7 million viewers) was off by a tenth from last Monday. NBC, despite the downward trend of Bluff City Law, still one the night in total viewers with an average of 6.1 million.

On CBS, The Neighborhood (0.8, 5.5 million viewers) ticked down in the demo and total viewers while freshmen Bob Hearts Abishola (0.7, 5.3 million viewers) and All Rise (0.6, 5.2 million viewers) were steady in the demo but saw some dips in total viewers. At 10:00 PM, Bull (0.6, 6 million viewers) was even in 18-49 and added a few viewers compared to last week.

On ABC, Dancing With the Stars (0.8, 6.4 million viewers) and The Good Doctor (0.9, 5.6 million viewers) were both steady in the demo. The Good Doctor did hit a live-viewing low but it’s a huge delayed viewing gainer so ABC isn’t too worried.

Monday’s ratings recap has The CW getting a win for the second night in a row after the premieres of Batwoman and Supergirl on Sunday. All American and Black Lightning looks like a legit pairing as of now and the former shows just how important it can be for fans to discover a show via a streaming presence before it makes its network return. As for Fox, they’re probably trying to figure out a new outlandish emergency for 9-1-1 to tackle because viewers are clearly loving what they’re seeing week-to-week.
