Brad Pitt goes to space in the upcoming Ad Astra, the latest from director James Gray.

The film was previously slated for release on May 24 and was even considered for a Cannes launch but work on the special effects had to be completed so the film was pushed to September 20.

The film follows astronaut Roy McBride (Pitt) who travels to the outer edges of the solar system to find his missing father and unravel a mystery that threatens the survival of our planet. The film co-stars Tommy Lee Jones, Ruth Negga, Jamie Kennedy, Liv Tyler, and Donald Sutherland.

Ad Astra hits screens on September 20.
