ABC Unveils Season 29 Cast Of Dancing With The Stars

ABC is going a bit bigger this year for season 29 of Dancing With the Stars with Tyra Banks already installed as the new and only host for the latest season and a new cast of celebrities that’s slightly more impressive than their normal C to D list roster.

The season 29 cast includes Tiger King’s Carole Baskin, rapper Nelly, Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause, former NBA star Charles Oakley, Monica Aldama, star of Netflix’s Cheer, Disney Channel actress Skai Jackson, One Day at a Time’s Justina Machado, The Real’s Jeannie Mai, Catfish’s Nev Schulman,  Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir,  Super Bowl champion Vernon Davis, actress Anne Heche, Backstreet Boys singer AJ McLean, The Bachelor’s Kaitlyn Bristowe and former Desperate Housewives’ star Jesse Metcalfe. The pros joining the stars will be Brandon Armstrong, Alan Bersten, Sharna Burgess, Cheryl Burke, Artem Chigvintsev, Val Chmerkovskiy, Sasha Farber, Jenna Johnson, Daniella Karagach, Keo Motsepe, Peta Murgatroyd, Pasha Pashkov, Gleb Savchenko, Emma Slater, and Britt Stewart.

One of the challenges for this season is to ensure the production adheres to COVID-19 protocols, a trickier move for a dance competition format than many other productions. Details of the health and safety protocols and other format refreshes are expected imminently. One thing that may be absent is a live audience for the show which will definitely take some of the excitement out of watching the competition because some of the show thrives on live reaction.

Dancing With the Stars will premiere season 29 on September 14! Check out the cast announcement video below.
