ABC Orders A Slew Of Pilots To Series At Upfront Presentation

ABC has made the finishing touches on its new series orders and while some were revealed early, we now have the rest of their new shows, with many of them set to launch midseason. Here’s what’s on deck:

The Fix: After losing the biggest case of her career and being shredded by the media, former prosecutor Maya Travis (Robin Tunney, The Mentalist) has left Los Angeles for a quiet life in rural Oregon. Eight years after her devastating defeat, the killer (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Lost) strikes again, forcing Maya to return to Los Angeles to confront him one more time. Will she play by the rules, or will she do whatever it takes to get him behind bars? Part legal thriller and part confessional. The series is executive produced by, and loosely based on, former prosecutor Marcia Clark, who was one of the prosecutors on the O.J. Simpson trial. The show is set for a launch midseason and also stars Adam Rayner, Scott Cohen, Breckin Meyer, Merrin Dungey, Mouzam Makkar, Marc Blucas, Alex Saxon.

Grand Hotel: Set at the last family-owned hotel in multicultural Miami Beach. The upstairs/downstairs drama revolves around Santiago Mendoza (Demian Bichir), who owns the hotel, and his second wife Gigi (Roselyn Sanchez) and their adult children, who enjoy the spoils of success. Based on the Spanish format, it explores the wealthy guests and the hotel’s scandals, secrets and escalating debt. The series is set to launch midseason and also stars, Denyse Tontz (The Fosters), Chris Warren, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Shalim Ortiz, Bryan Craig, Anne Winters, Lincoln Younes, Feliz Ramirez & Justina Adorno

Take Two: The series revolves around Ella (Rachel Bilson), the former star of a hit cop series who is fresh out of rehab following a bender of epic proportion. Desperate to restart her career, she talks her way into shadowing rough-and-tumble private investigator Eddie (Eddie Cibrian) as research for a potential comeback role. Although lone wolf Eddie resents the babysitting gig, high-spirited Ella proves herself to be surprisingly valuable, drawing on her acting skills and 200 episodes of playing a detective. When the press touts Ella’s role in solving a high-profile case, Eddie finds his phone ringing off the hook with new clients looking to hire the pair. The show was actually ordered straight-to-series sometime back and will also likely launch midseason.

Whiskey Cavalier: A high-octane hourlong action dramedy that follows the adventures of tough but tender FBI super-agent Will Chase (codename: “Whiskey Cavalier,” played by Scott Foley) who, following an emotional breakup, is assigned to work with badass CIA operative Francesca “Frankie” Trowbridge (codename: “Fiery Tribune,” played by Lauren Cohan). Together, they lead an inter-agency team of flawed, funny, heroic spies who periodically save the world (and each other) while navigating the rocky roads of friendship, romance, and office politics. The show will launch midseason and also stars Ana Ortiz, Tyler James Williams & Vir Das.

Single Parents: A group of dysfunctional single parents lean on each other as they raise their kids, look for love, and ultimately realize survival is only possible with the help of each other. The comedy will launch in the fall and is getting the prime post-Modern Family timeslot. The series stars Taran Killam, Leighton Meester, Brad Garrett, Jake Choi, Kimrie Lewis, Marlow Barkley, Tyler Wladis, Sadie Hazelett, Grace Hazelett & Devin Trey Campbell.

The Kids Are Alright: The comedy is set in the 1970s and revolves around an Irish-Catholic family with a working-class dad, traditional mom and eight boisterous sons who navigate changes big and small during one of America’s most turbulent decades. The series will launch in the fall and is getting a cushy lead-in from the second season of the Roseanne revival. The show stars Michael Cudlitz, Mary McCormack, Christopher Paul Richards, Jack Gore, Sam Straley, Caleb Martin Foote, Andy Walken, Sawyer Barth & Santino Barnard.
