Julia Roberts In Talks To Star In Television Drama, Homecoming

Days after her limited series adaptation of Today Will Be Different landed at HBO comes word that the Julia Roberts is in talks to headline the TV drama series Homecoming from Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail.

Based on the fictional podcast of the same name, Homecoming is described as a political thriller centering on a caseworker at a secret government facility. Roberts would play the caseworker’s supervisor.

Esmail is writing and developing Homecoming as part of his overall deal with Universal Cable Productions, where he also has Mr. Robot and is developing a miniseries adaptation of the sci-fi classic Metropolis. Esmail will exec produce Homecoming with Mr. Robot’s Chad Hamilton of Anonymous Content, the podcast’s creator Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg, Alicia Van Couvering, and Chris Giliberti, Alex Blumberg, and Matt Lieber of Gimlet Media.
