It’s never to early to look at the 2020 Oscar season and the possibility that Jordan Peele may have another hit and potential player on his hands. Jordan Peele’s new horror movie, Us, will have its world premiere as the opening night film at the SXSW Film Festival in Austin, Texas, on March 8, the festival announced today.
The film will hit theaters on March 15 and stars Lupita Nyong’o and Winston Duke as the parents of a family on vacation in Northern California who encounter four mysterious figures who appear to be their own doppelgangers. Janet Pierson, director of the SXSW film festival stated, “We are crazy excited to world premiere the most anticipated film of 2019 from the creative powerhouse that brought us Get Out. We honestly couldn’t imagine a more perfect film to kick off the 2019 SXSW Film Festival.”
The premiere of the film at the festival could start the film’s year-long push for Oscar glory.
