2020 BAFTA Awards: (Complete Winners List)

The BAFTA Film Awards were handed out last night and the winners mostly mirror where awards season has been headed on the road to the Academy Awards. Sam Mendes’ 1917 won Best Film at the ceremony, which certainly makes it look like it’s the one to beat for Best Pictures at The Oscars on Sunday while the acting wins featured the big four who will likely take home the gold in their categories (Joaquin Phoenix, Renee Zellweger, Brad Pitt and Laura Dern).

1917 also claimed the Best Director award for Sam Mendes which mirrors the wins for the film at the DGA and PGA awards. Along with its Best Picture – Drama win at the Golden Globes, it’s really looking like the gap between 1917 and Parasite, which some think can pull an upset at The Oscars, seems to have become even wider at this point.

Parasite did pull off an impressive win at the BAFTA’s as it took home the award for Best Original Screenplay (Han Jin Won, Bong Joon Ho). Taika Waititi took home the prize for Best Adapted Screenplay for Jojo Rabbit and the wins in both categories mirrored the wins for both films at the WGA Awards which was handed out less than 24 hours earlier.
