Wonder Woman 1984 Shifts From August To October

Right after we got the not so bad news that Tenet was only shifting two weeks from July 17 to July 31, the very same studio, Warner Bros., brings us back down to Earth by delaying Wonder Woman 1984 yet again. The film is moving from August to October.

Originally slated to open in June, the film was moved in the wake of the theater closures due to COVID-19 to August 14. The film will now open October 2 which makes Mulan on July 24 & Tenet, now July 31, the only real summer game in town. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run is still slated to open August 7 and we get The New Mutants on August 28, unless its curse strikes again and it gets pushed off the calendar.

Wonder Woman 1984 is apt to stir up more release date changes. Paramount has its Tom Clancy feature Without Remorse starring Michael B. Jordan on that date. Universal also has the Amblin Tom Hanks sci-fi movie Bios. In fact, if other movies make more moves or if the coronavirus sees a second surge in the fall, the calendar could get flipped again. I’m really hoping this won’t happen.

I’m hearing that the moves for this film & Tenet have a lot to do with New York City theaters not being ready to open at least until before the last week of July. While California, specifically Los Angeles County, is getting ready to go, New York City isn’t quite on their level yet. Los Angeles & New York City represent the two biggest box office players in the States.
