Whether it’s because of sub-par ratings or the recent allegations against its star Jeremy Piven, Wisdom of the Crowd is not receiving a back order by CBS for season 1. That means the show will end its first season after episode 13 and a final decision on the shows fate will be revealed at a later date.
Does that mean the show is canceled? Not officially, but it doesn’t bode well for its prospects moving forward. The series has failed to make a substantial impact in its Sunday timeslot with the show currently averaging a 1.0 rating in the coveted 18-49 demo and 7.4 million viewers per episode. This makes it the lowest-rated freshman drama on CBS.
The decision also comes as the floodgates have opened on sexual harassment. The series’ star, Jeremy Piven, has been accused of groping two women who were extras on the set of the HBO comedy series, Entourage. Piven played Ari Gold on that show and has become one of many celebrities that have had allegations leveled against them in this new wake of harassment revelations over the past couple of months.
CBS didn’t say the allegations were the reason they weren’t moving forward with a back order (to be fair, Piven has denied all allegations against him) but I’m sure the lackluster ratings also give theman out to not move any further as well.
