Venom Becomes Sony’s Highest-Grossing Movie in Russia

It’s amazing what a few days can do for the narrative of a film. The week Venom was released, the film’s steam seems to end when the reviews of the film panned the film and compared it to 2005’s Catwoman. However, Venom has scored huge at the box office and has completed changed the films narrative to box office hit.

After finishing number 1 at the box office for the second straight week, Venom’s success has transferred overseas as the film has become an all-time best performer for Sony in Russia.

To date, Venom has grossed 1.59 billion rubles ($24 million), which makes it this year’s second-highest-grossing movie locally, behind Avengers: Infinity War. While it has not been confirmed that a sequel is in play, it would not surprise me if Venom 2 is confirmed any day now.
