Tom Holland’s Uncharted Movie Loses Director

It has been a crazy few days for Tom Holland & Sony. Days after the Sony-Marvel Studios pact seemingly coming to an end, it has been announced that Sony’s adaptation of the video game Uncharted, also starring Holland, has lost its director. Dan Trachtenberg has exited the project.

Because of the exit, Sony has to find a new filmmaker by the end of summer. There isn’t any official word as to why he left but Sony is deep in meetings about quickly getting someone on board. Tom Holland remains attached to star as a young Nathan Drake.

A new development is that this film will become the first feature production of Sony PlayStation Productions, which was set up on the Sony lot last year by Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan. It’s reported that the film has a storyline that captures the protagonist as a young man, as he grows into the treasure hunter Nathan Drake. The video game series was created by Naughty Dog and published by PlayStation and has sold over 41 million copies to date.

Dan Trachtenberg recently directed the pilot for The Boys & also directed 10 Cloverfield Lane.
