Tom Holland To Play Fred Astaire In Sony Biopic

Fred Astaire is an absolute icon! One of the biggest names of the “Golden Age of Hollywood”, Astaire is known for some of the best musicals of the era and his partnership with Ginger Rogers.  Astaire’s wish that he never be the subject of a biopic, however it looks as though that wish will not be honored.

Tom Holland is officially confirmed on Sunday that he’ll portray legendary actor, dancer and singer Fred Astaire in an upcoming biopic for Sony.

In a recent profile for GQ, Oscar-nominated producer Amy Pascal teased that she wanted Holland for the part of Astaire in the forthcoming movie, as well as another trilogy of “Spider-Man films.”

But during an interview with AP, at an event promoting the upcoming the upcoming Spider-Man film, Holland confirmed that he’ll step into the entertainer’s dance shoes for the project, which is still in its early stages. Holland told reporters,

“The script came in a week ago,”

“I haven’t read it yet; they haven’t given it to me.”
